Dog Company
Hell-Bent Canines
Dog Company has long established itself as one of the most outstanding outfits in the Corps. By maintaining a high standard of academic excellence and commitment to character, our cadets have always been successful leaders in the Corps and the University in organizations like the Ross Volunteers, Parson's Mounted Cavalry, Rudder’s Rangers, and Ranger Challenge as well as a long history of Yell Leaders, Student Government members, and military officers. D-2 has received countless awards in the past, including the Corps most outstanding unit. Dog Company finds its name from Earl Rudder's dog at the time of his Presidency at the University, "Ranger" Rudder was a bull-dog (see picture to the right) who would roam campus and was a friend to all.
All or None
One of the sayings exclusive to Company D-2 is "All or None", it embodies a large portion of the company ethos. Highlighting values such as "selfless service", "integrity", "honor", and "respect". All or None can mean many things, but it primarily refers to the fact that as underclassmen you will learn how to succeed or fail together, as a class, you either All succeed, or None of you do, there is no middle ground. This is highlighted during one's Freshman and Sophomore years within D-2.
Recent History
Over the past few years, D-2 has excelled in producing leaders for our Corps, University, and Nation. One of the signs of this are the numerous leaders that get picked from our outfit to lead in other areas of the Corps that are lacking. Since 2013, D-2 has produced a Deputy Corps Commander, a Sergeant Major of the Corps, 4 Major Unit Commanders, a commander for Parsons Mounted Cavalry, a commander and First Sergeant for Ranger Challenge, 4 Major Unit Sergeant Majors, and numerous outfit level commanders and first sergeants. In addition, there have been 20 Ross Volunteers, multiple members of Parsons Mounted Cavalry, as well as heavy involvement in ROTC/Army Based Organizations such as Rudder's Rangers and Ranger Challenge.
Academics
Academic Success is incredibly important to one's time in college, especially one as competitive as Texas A&M University. Company D-2 finished with the best overall grades in the Corps in the fall 2015 semester. Though D-2 cannot guarantee the academics success of its members, we have a high number of members with great academic achievements, such as the Corps Distinguished Student Medal (3.25 Term GPA or higher), Commandant's Silver Academic Star (3.5 Term GPA or higher), and the Commandant's Gold Academic Star (4.0 Term GPA). We also have members of the outfit who continually reach these awards, as well as people who are also in either the University, or their Department's Honors program.
Academics are what stay with a student following their time at A&M. Though we cannot guarantee the academic success of people who join D-2, we have all the tools to help them succeed if they strive for that goal. With a wide variety of majors and focuses, upperclassmen can easily help freshman find resources that they might not have found on their own, as well as suggest study tactics, good places on and off campus to get work done, and even tutor if they're familiar with the subject.
Physical Fitness
D-2 prides itself on producing many great leaders for our Corps. One of the key components of a good leader in the Corps is their ability to lead by example, especially in the area of physical fitness. Though there is not going to be a long term record that is hard to recover from in fitness, like there is in Academics, we still desire to produce members of the Corps of Cadets who are constantly pushing themselves to succeed in this area as well.
Other Organizations
Here in D-2 we do not believe that the Aggie experience is limited to our outfit, but instead requires someone to be well developed and rounded in many areas of their lives. Due to the fact that we believe that D-2 might not have everything that one of its members desires in their time at A&M, we heartily encourage our members to get involved across campus. That could be in many different areas, both on and off the Quad. Examples include but are not limited to, Fish Camp, Rudder's Rangers, Ranger Challenge, the Ross Volunteer Company, Parsons Mounted Cavalry, Impact Camp, Muster Committee, the Brotherhood of Christian Aggies, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Aggie Anglers Club, and many many more. As long as a member of D-2 is succeeding academically, then we encourage involvement in areas such as these.
